Kamal opened artGriot® Studio in 2005 as an artist and image-maker, focusing on mixed media collage and assemblage. But early in 1990, Kamal founded AfroLink® Software, which created the first Afrocentric interactive multimedia software. Between AfroLink and artGriot, Kamal has been involved with several creative digital projects, but he also wrote and published his first book, Divine Consciousness: From a Dystopian Diaspora to Afrofuturism, in 2020. Kamal is currently recording the audiobook version. Not only is he creating a new body of artwork, but he has also launched this podcast, Art is the Weapon, is developing his first art book, and is already planning the follow-on to Divine Consciousness.
